The Overview tab of Practice Intelligence is a snapshot of where your practice stands today: how much active work you have, whether data has started to arrive, what's overdue, how far along each engagement is, and how the work is spread across your partners and managers.
To open it, select Practice Intelligence in the side menu. Overview is the first tab. For filters, the engagement table and exporting, see Getting Started with Practice Intelligence.
What's included
Overview covers your firm's active engagements: every due diligence engagement that hasn't been archived, however long ago it was added. The Active engagements only label at the top is a reminder. There's no date range on this tab.
Engagements stay on Overview until they're archived, even when every task is done. Archive engagements when the work is finished so Overview shows your current work. See Entering Engagement Details.
Use Filters to focus on part of the practice, such as one industry or one partner. Every card and chart on the tab updates to match.
Snapshot cards
| Card | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Active engagements | All of your active engagements. |
| With data | Active engagements with at least one document on their Documents tab. This shows that data has started to arrive, not that every request has been answered. Data from a connected accounting system isn't a document, so it doesn't count here. |
| Without data | Active engagements with no documents yet. |
When your firm has Engagement Fee Average turned on, each of these three cards also shows Estimated Fees: the total expected fees for those engagements. It's the full expected fee, not revenue earned or still to be earned. Engagements without a fee aren't included.
Hover over or select the ? next to any card for a reminder of what it counts.
Overdue and unassigned work
| Item | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Overdue tasks | Tasks on active engagements that are past their due date and not completed, and how many engagements they're on. A task without a due date is never overdue. |
| Overdue requests | Requests on active engagements that are past their due date and not marked Completed or Completed by AI, and how many engagements they're on. A request without a due date is never overdue. |
| Unassigned | How many active engagements have no Financial Partner, and how many have no Financial Project Manager, for example 4 Financial Partner · 3 Financial Project Manager. A role appears only if your firm has it turned on. |
Deals by Percent Complete
This chart shows how many active engagements fall into each completion range: 0–19%, 20–39%, 40–59%, 60–79%, 80–99% and 100%.
- An engagement's percent complete is the Overall Completion on its Summary tab: the average progress of its tasks. A task's progress counts before it's finished, and a completed task counts as 100%.
- Engagements with no tasks appear under No tasks, not in 0–19%.
- Select Estimated Fees to see the expected fees in each range instead of the number of engagements.
Note: Percent complete measures task progress. It isn't a measure of revenue, billing or how much of the fee has been earned.
Work by Owner
This table shows each partner's or project manager's active engagements and how far along they are. Choose Financial Partner or Financial Project Manager at the top right.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Active engagements | How many active engagements the person owns. |
| Overall completion | Their engagements split into Early (0–39%), Middle (40–79%), Near completion (80–100%) and No tasks. Hover over a section to see its count. |
| Estimated Fees | The total expected fees for their engagements. |
| Overdue tasks and Overdue requests | Overdue items on their engagements. |
| Added (30d) | Their active engagements added to Audit Sight in the last 30 days, including today. |
- The eight people with the most active engagements are listed first. If there are more, select Show all to see everyone.
- Engagements without an owner are grouped as Unassigned at the bottom.
- Someone who has left your firm keeps their engagements and is marked (former). To hand their engagements to someone else, change the Financial Partner or Financial Project Manager on each engagement.
Work by Owner counts engagements, not hours. Use it to see where work is concentrated, how much of each person's work is close to done and where new work is landing, rather than to measure anyone's capacity.
See the engagements behind a number
The cards and charts on Overview are for reading; selecting them doesn't filter the page. To look at part of your practice, use Filters, for example to show one Financial Partner's engagements. The cards, charts and engagement table all update to match.
When something is missing
- No fees entered means none of the engagements in that group has an expected fee yet. Fee figures and the Estimated Fees option appear only when your firm has Engagement Fee Average turned on.
- Work by Owner and Unassigned appear only when your firm has Financial Partner or Financial Project Manager turned on.
Which details are turned on is set in My Firm Settings on the Engagement Fields tab. See Setting Up Your Firm's Engagement Details.
