When you upload accounting data that isn’t connected via API and isn’t using Audit Sight’s automated AUS import template, your files go through a structured, trackable process to ensure the data is complete, clean, and ready for testing.
This process is powered by Audit Sight’s in-house tools and supported by our Data Conversion Services team. You can monitor every step using the in-platform data conversion tracker:
🔄 How the Data Import Process Works
Once your file is uploaded, it flows through the following stages:
✅ Step 1: Qualifying Data
We review the file to ensure:
- The provided date range is complete
- No months are missing or cut off
- The format is suitable for processing
If anything is missing or incorrect, you’ll see a message in the tracker. It’s your responsibility to resolve these issues before processing can continue. In many cases, the underlying file is incomplete or inaccurate and must be corrected at the source.
✅ Step 2: Queued for Processing
Once the file passes qualification, it is placed in line to be transformed into Audit Sight’s standard internal format. No action is needed from your team during this stage.
✅ Step 3: Actively Working
At this stage, your file is being processed by automations our Data Conversion Services team has developed. These automations support many commonly used accounting systems.
If your client is using a more unique or less common system, this step may involve manual work by our team to convert the data into our standardized format.
🔄 Step 4: Importing
The data is currently being imported into the Audit Sight platform. Once this step is complete, you will receive an email notification.
🧠 Frequently Asked Questions
⏳ How long does the process take?
Turnaround depends on data quality and volume. You can monitor progress live in the tracker. If your file has been in a stage for more than 2 business days our team will reach out with an update.
The majority of data is successfully imported in 1 business day from upload.
📁 What causes a file to be flagged during qualification?
Common issues include:
- Missing months in the General Ledger
- Cut-off periods that don’t match the testing date range
- Corrupt or unsupported file formats
All flagged issues must be resolved by your team before processing can resume.
📊 What types of files can I upload?
CSV and Excel files are preferred. PDF files are accepted but may require manual handling, which can delay processing.
📌 What’s the minimum data required for upload?
We recommend uploading a:
- General Ledger with beginning and ending balances and all activity for the test period
- Or a Comparative Trial Balance and Journal Entry List
🔄 What happens after the data is imported?
Once the data reaches the Importing stage and finishes loading, it becomes available for use in testing across modules.
