At Audit Sight, we understand that managing data and access is critical to your workflow. We’ve invested heavily in security measures to ensure that your data is protected at every step. When it comes to deleting data or user access, these tools are designed to give you control while prioritizing data security and integrity.
This guide will walk you through what can be deleted, why you might delete it, and how to do so safely.
🚨 Before You Delete
Deleting data or access is often irreversible. Make sure you understand the implications of each deletion:
- Deleting a client removes all data, engagements, workpapers, and access associated with that client permanently.
- Deleting an entity removes access to all data related to a specific segment of the client’s organization. This does not delete any engagements, workpapers, or clients.
- Deleting a connection stops syncing data but retains historical records for audits.
- Deleting a client contact or employee revokes access to the platform without affecting stored data.
🔍 What You Can Delete and Why

- Search for the client you want to delete.
- Click the Delete Icon.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
🚨 Important: This action is irreversible. Be certain you no longer need any data before proceeding.

- Select your client.
- Navigate to Entities under the client’s profile.
- Select the entity you want to delete and expand the box.
- Click Delete Entity located at the bottom of the screen.

🚨 Important: This is irreversible and will remove all data tied to the entity.
3. Deleting a Connection
Definition: A connection links Audit Sight to an external data source, such as an accounting system or bank.
Why?
Use this option to stop syncing data while retaining historical records for audit purposes. This is useful if the client no longer needs access but you want to preserve their data.
How to Delete:
- Navigate to Entities under the client’s profile.
- Select the entity and expand the box.
- Find the connection you want to delete and click Delete Connection.
📝 Note: Historical data remains accessible, but syncing will cease.
4. Deleting a Client Contact
Definition: A client contact is an individual at the client’s organization with access to Audit Sight.
Why?
Use this option to revoke a client contact’s access to the platform while maintaining their data for your records.
How to Delete:
- Navigate to Clients in the platform using the left-side navigation.
- Select the contact you want to delete and click the box to the left.
- Click Delete next to the client contact.
✅ Tip: This action is reversible if you reinvite the client contact.
5. Deleting an Employee
Definition: An employee is a member of your team with access to Audit Sight.
Why?
Remove a team member’s access when they no longer need it, such as when they leave your firm.
How to Delete:
- Go to My Firm Settings > My Team.
- Locate the employee in the list.
- Click Actions > Delete Employee.
📝 Note: This action removes their login credentials and access but does not affect any data they’ve worked on.
FAQs
Why should I delete a connection instead of a client?
Deleting a connection stops syncing data but keeps historical records intact. This is useful because your client no longer needs to provide their data, but you want to maintain the historical data.
Can I undo a client contact or employee deletion?
Yes. You can reinvite the user if needed by navigating to the respective settings and sending a new invite.
