Your firm’s template. The target’s data. Ready for your team’s analysis.
Audit Sight’s Firm Databook automatically populates your firm’s Excel databook template with the target company’s accounting data. It brings financial statements and supporting schedules into the format your team already uses, reducing manual preparation so you can focus on analyzing the business.
Once your firm’s template is configured and enabled, your team can generate data books directly from engagements with accounting data imported into Audit Sight.
Built with deterministic software you can verify
Audit Sight’s Firm Databook uses deterministic software—not generative AI—to populate your workbook. Defined account mappings, calculation rules, and Excel formulas determine where data goes and how schedules are calculated.
The same data, mappings, and configuration produce the same financial results. Your team can trace populated amounts to the trial balance database and inspect the formulas connecting the schedules.
Audit Sight also runs internal checks before delivering the workbook to help verify that populated schedules reconcile as expected. This gives your team a repeatable, reviewable foundation for diligence.
Your familiar workbook, populated for you
The schedules included depend on your firm’s configured template and the target’s available data. These may include:
- Financial statements: Reported and adjusted profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Trial balance database: Accounting data with account mappings through Level 4.
- Net working capital: Schedules populated from the underlying accounting data.
- Supporting schedules: Account-level detail for applicable revenue, expense, and balance sheet accounts.
- Diligence adjustment worksheets: Dates and formula links prepared for your team to complete.
The workbook retains your firm’s layout, styling, and connected formulas. After downloading it, your team can continue its analysis and enter adjustments in Excel.
Generate your Firm Databook
- Open the engagement and go to Automations.
- Locate Firm Data Book below Management Meetings.
- Select Start for your first request or + Add new to create another.
- Review the Start Date and End Date. These default to the engagement’s accounting period, but you can change them.
- Select the entity or entities you want to include and review the available accounting data.
- Select Generate Databook.
Before generating, confirm that the imported accounting data covers the period and entities you want to analyze.
Your request will appear in the module. Click it to view its progress. If required accounting data is still being imported or synced, the request may show Waiting on Data and will generate once that data is available.
Download and start your analysis
When your Firm Databook is ready, you’ll receive an email with a link to Work Papers, where you can download the Excel workbook.
You can also access it from the Workpapers quick link on the Automations tab or select Go to Work Papers from the completed request’s status page.
Update mappings and refresh your workbook
Account mappings determine where the target’s accounts appear in your Firm Databook.
To change an account’s classification:
- Open the engagement’s Chart of Accounts.
- Update the account’s mapping and save the change.
- Request a new version of the databook.
- Download the updated workbook from Work Papers.
The refreshed workbook reflects the revised mapping in the applicable statements and supporting schedules.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Audit Sight’s Firm Databook use AI to generate financial amounts?
No. Workbook population uses deterministic software with defined mappings, calculation rules, and formulas. Generative AI does not create financial amounts or write diligence conclusions in this workflow.
We use a blend of Geneartive AI and determinsitic rules to map the chart of accounts, but that can be updated at anytime.
Does it use our firm’s own template?
Yes. Audit Sight configures your firm’s Excel template so it can be populated with engagement data while retaining your firm’s layout, styling, and connected formulas.
The schedules available depend on the scope configured for your firm.
Does it complete our diligence adjustments?
Firm Databook can prepare adjustment worksheets with the applicable dates and formula links. Your team completes and reviews the deal-specific adjustments and conclusions.
Can I include multiple entities?
Yes. Select the entities you want to include when creating the request. The workbook combines their data using your firm’s configured template. Available consolidating schedules depend on the template’s scope.
What if the target’s data does not cover the requested period?
A Firm Databook can only populate amounts from accounting data available in Audit Sight. Confirm that the imported data covers your intended analysis period before generating.
If required entity data has not arrived or is still processing, the request may show Waiting on Data.
Will my Excel edits carry into a refreshed databook?
No. A refresh generates a new workbook from the data and mappings in Audit Sight. Keep your working copy separately if your team has added analysis or adjustments in Excel.
Why is Firm Data Book greyed out?
